Kevin from Dana Wilson Home Inspection Services inspected my new condo recently. He was very thorough and I appreciated that he wanted me to stay with him during the inspection so he could show me what he was doing. I received the final report fairly quickly and was able to contact my construction manager regarding things that should be fixed before closing. Kevin Pond conducted our post-purchase inspection and did a great job. We appreciated his thoroughness and clear explanations of what we were looking at as we walked through the house and around the exterior. I’ll start by saying fantastic & friendly customer service! I never felt I was being sold anything, but instead a conversation of needs. Once I called, scheduling the inspection was immediate with transparent pricing. The report included many pictures and was very easy to understand. I can’t say enough positive things about Dana Wilson Home Inspection and both Justin and Cheryl. As a first time home buyer, they not only took the time to explain everything to me, but offered great advice. And while hearing things that are not perfect with your new home can be nerve-wrecking, i really appreciate that Justin also pointed out the positive things about the house. Lastly, one of the findings in my inspection was the chimney needed some upkeep and after i moved in, i had someone come check it out and he commented something akin to, how this was the first inspection report he saw this year that accurately described the issue and work needed. I would definitely recommend Dana Wilson Home Inspection to everyone buying a new home!

From start to finish, Dana and his team went above and beyond our expectations for inspection services, helping us feel informed and empowered to make the right choice for us regarding an offer we had put down on a home built in the 1790s and a property with several structures and a lot going on that we were unfamiliar with beforehand (septic, well, etc.). We were able to get an inspection scheduled quickly and in the allotted timeframe of our offer contract. Dana and Kevin were the two inspectors onsite, and both were extremely detailed in their inspection and answering questions we had throughout the process -- including getting some general (and specific!) knowledge about how septic, wells, antique foundations, etc. work. Dana inspected the main home, while Kevin focused on two other structures (one which was living space), and both were patient and kind -- and in no way condescending as we had experienced with other inspectors during two previous inspections elsewhere -- answering our questions during and after the inspection. It was clear that their knowledge and expertise is both broad and deep, and we felt incredibly positive about and taken care of during the entire experience. We appreciated them offering to answer any questions that might arise when the report was issued and when comprehensive water tests come back (including radon, as well as adding full PFAS testing), as well as the verbal offer to give any recommendations we may need once we actually move into the home. I would not hesitate to recommend them to any friends and family, or to use them again if we do not end up staying in this home as long as we intend to!

We requested quotes from several companies and Dana Wilson Home Inspection answered quickly, had ample availability, had a competitive price and included a radon test, which was extra with nearly all other inspectors. Kevin was the inspector, and he clearly knows his stuff. He was incredibly meticulous and careful, not easily jumping to conclusions as he double and tripled checked everything for possible alternative causes. He explained the probable causes of the issues he was spotting and described the potential consequences of leaving things unattended. He was courteous the whole time; we asked a zillion questions and he answered all of them with the same calm demeanor and willing nature, as if he actually really enjoyed his work. He took a long time inspecting the house, which we appreciated as he was clearly being as thorough as one can be, not rushing at any point.
Highly recommended, would give 6 stars if I could.

I'm probably setting the women's movement back a few years by admitting this, but as a single woman, the prospect of homeownership is completely terrifying to me.
I can barely change a lightbulb, and for years I put off buying because I didn't want to deal with the hassle of knowing how to fix things. But then I fell in love with a house, and everything changed.
My realtor had set up a home inspection with another company, but when I looked them up, I saw tons of negative reviews. I figured that this would possibly be the most important investment I could make; I am not equipped to deal with a house that has lots of hidden issues. After seeing all the positive reviews for this company, I switched over.
I could not be more pleased that I did. Dana explained everything in great detail and in language I could understand, and he went through the house with a fine-toothed comb. This home is a renovation, and everything is brand new, so my realtor expected us to be done with the inspection fairly quickly. Dana spent more time than he had to, explaining things to me, telling me about things I'd need to think of in the future regarding owning a home, and taking pictures of everything so that I have a record of where things are and what they do. Working with him allieviated all of my fears around us missing something that would end up becoming a huge expense to me. I felt like I had a favorite uncle looking out for me and making sure that he was giving me the guidance I needed in a process that is totally unfamiliar and kind of scary.
I plan to be in my new home for a long time, but if I ever do decide to go through this process again, he will absolutely be the one I hire as an inspector!

Dana was very thorough and patient. He got to the house early and greeted us with a big smile. He first gave us a brief intro about the whole process and kindly informed the seller about the setup and pickup of the continuous radon monitor. He is charismatic and humorous, making routine inspections a fun process. We started from the front side of the exterior and walked around to the back. As he examined the shingles and paints carefully, he immediately pointed out a few things we need to pay attention to and explained in details how things supposed to work. As a first-time buyer, we felt very comfortable and well informed. He had a few gadgets in his pocket and used them to test every single power outlet, window pane, bar handle, etc. When we were examing the attic, he allowed me to stand on the ladder to take a closer look at the roof and insulation. He offered a lot of great tips and maintenance suggestions to help us plan ahead for future home improvements. We then walked top down. In the second floor, he turned on all the faucets to test the water quality and pressure and brought up potential concerns for us to consider and communicate with the listing agent. His attention to details and honesty made us feel very comfortable. For the basement inspection, he insisted we getting a confirmation from the seller on the cause of the watermarks left on the concrete floor. Thanks to him, we got a reasonable explanation for the watermarks, and also a more peaceful mind. What surprised me the most is, as soon as he saw an issue, he immediately put it down on his computer reporting system, which he developed all by himself. When I got his 29-page-long detailed report, every single issue he had mentioned to me was included, and I can remember exactly what he said based on the summary and pictures in the report. All and all, it was a great pleasure working and learning from Dana, and I'm 100% happy about his professionalism and dedication. He is a man on his word, and he is the kind of inspector I was looking for. And, btw, his assistant Cheryl is also very kind and nice.

Somehow the gods smiled upon us when we bought our first house in Maynard and we got Dana for our house inspection which I just assumed you get, but I guess sometimes you get one of his associates! Dana and his apprentice, Matt, were superstars! I thought the home inspection was going to be three hours of essentially watching paint dry followed by being told that our new house was going to collapse into a sinkhole within the next three hours. The only thing we were concerned about is the partial dirt basement which may or may not be a portal to Hell. (Dana suggested the first thing we do is pour concrete in the portal. He is a wise, wise man.) Dana has an encyclopedic knowledge, a terrific sense of humour, and an absolutely delightful gift of explaining to people what is backwards, forwards, and upside down about their new home. He also seems like he is a terrific mentor to his staff, he is one of the most wild and wonderful people I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. My husband, who has absolutely negligible interest in anything structural, has now taken up discussing joists like an old pro. (Thanks, Dana!) Finally, the report that is sent post-inspection is invaluable! Full of photos and notes, it's an amazing resource to have on hand for your house. I would tell you to ask for Dana to do your inspection, but anyone on his team I'm sure would be amazing because they work with the BEST!

I have to say I'm very impressed with this company!!! The company gets a 10+ from me. From the time that I made the initial call to the completed home inspection I have dealt with so much more professionalism than I've dealt with in months!! I bought a brand new house and have had nothing but issues since we moved in. Unfortunately, we did not hire a home inspector when we moved in with high hopes that everything would be great!!! Lol... I have never been more wrong!!! This will give me some leverage now in case I need to take things to a new level. If you're looking for a great home inspector, look no further!!!
